Weekly Willy Update (WWU) May 23, 2008
Welcome Back!!!
Welcome one and all, we are glad to be back and have a working website again. When we made our first clan website for CE United back in 2005 I contributed to the site by writing the Weekly Willy Update, a knock off of the Bungie Weekly What's Update.
The new WWUs’ are going to follow a similar format. The primary focus of the WWUs’ is gaming in general. I will be covering various consoles and release titles as well as clan events or news. Bungie’s Community files are up for review. I will be looking for screenshots worthy of WWU recognition and will post them at the end of each post. For the first few WWUs’ I will use a lot of my own screenshots as I feel my screenshots have not gotten the recognition they deserve.
Now that the reintroduction/intro is done and without further belaboring, on with the Weekly Willy Update for Friday, May 23rd 2008. It has been a long time but it is good to be back at the keyboard typing a WWU again, different laptop this time but still the same message.

I really did fall asleep like this no fooling.
A Fond Farwell
On Friday 5/16/08 a lot of us found out that Frank O’Connor AKA Frankie announced he was leaving Bungie. Frankie wrote the Bungie Weekly Updates for as long as I can remember. I don’t know if there was a Bungie Weekly Update before Frankie starting writing them. There will never be another Frankie, his writing always left me thriving for more. When lukems writes the Updates there is just something missing that gives it that flare. Frankie, I’m sad to see you go but good luck and thanks for all the fun and wonderfully interesting Bungie Updates.
A Mexican Halo Stand-Off
Now we come to my favorite part of the WWU the ranting. This week I focus on a sore yet funny gaming moment on Halo 3. What I’m talking about is playing team slayer on Halo 3 and having a majority of the players vetoing the current NON-BR map for a chance to start with BRs on another map. (I personally love using the Assault Rifle over the BR but that is a different topic for another time). Well there was one night that I swear ever time the majority vetoed a map we always played team BR on Stand-Off when the veto was passed.
I give you exhibit A:

VVilly's Recent Game History
I can guarantee that three out of four games I played on 5/11/08 from 2:38:01PM PST time to 3:15:50PM PST time were Stand-Off games (a result from a veto).
I was getting sort of angry that night because we would always lose those BR Stand-Off games. My friends/clan-mates would veto just to hear me get angry, and I told them to stop teasing the monkey because you know we will just end up on Stand-Off game and I was right. Plus, I personally don’t like Stand-Off as a slayer map but I absolutely love it as an objective map. S0metimes I feel like the maps from the Heroic map pack are weighted more and I play them way more then I should. There was one night were I played so much Foundry along with 2 other maps or so in a row that I forgot names of the other Halo 3 maps. I would be very happy to play even a Snowbound or something else, and when we played on Narrows I was like no way I totally forgot this was a Halo 3 map. I’m not kidding; I really said that I had a brain fart that night because I only played about 4 Halo 3 maps in a row.
Bottom line, I would just like to see the new maps not be as weighted on the vetoes. Plus, it really does suck when you play only a few maps over and over, while there are other really great maps available to play all day long with your friends against some random people online.
One a side note, I wish the weapon placement on Stand-Off was rearranged. I’m tired of getting OWNED by the laser from across the map and my BR can’t reach him. Having a sniper rifle or two on Stand-Off would be sweet seeing as how recently my sniping skills seem to be better then my BR skills.
All I have to say is Bungie was not kidding when the decided to have Stand-Off be its final name. At times when playing team BRs on this map there are a lot of moments where nothing happens because both teams are safely behind the rocks for cover. I do have to give props to Bungie for creating one of my favorite objective maps ever; the bases on that map are well designed.
More News…
Recently, I found this gaming news story on the internet on kotaku.com it is a gaming blog site that updates throughout the day with gaming stories. I try to visit it often to keep up on my gaming news. I saw this story on their website here is the full link:

All I have to say is WOW. I feel bad for that guy, I better watch out or my gamer tag might get banned as well. Willy is my nickname and I love my current gamertag VVilly.
Well, I guess that is it for this week’s Weekly Willy Update. As you can see I like to use as many “W” words in a sentence as I can sometimes. Readers can always expect three elements in the WWUs’:
• 1 Random Rant from me personally on a gaming related topic
• 1 or more Halo 3 screenshots at the end of the Update
• 1 randomly used l337 speak letter or word in a sentence just for fun because I accidentally typed a word and somehow a number got in there and it worked
(If you don’t know what LEET or l337 speak is it is when you use numbers instead of letters on a word).
I leave you with not one, but two of my personal Halo 3 screenshots that I think look pretty cool. Happy Gamming!
