Weekly Willy Update (WWU) for the week of November 21, 2008

Hopefully you all liked the past two WWU covering the LAN party recap, and my early access and take on the NXE.  While I was writing up those two WWUs a lot of Halo gaming news has been released so this WWU will cover most of the Halo news that has come out between now and then.  Before I get started with the gaming news I just have one clan thing to mention first. CE United got a front page post on Halo.Bungie.org, I was so happy to see that front page post on their site.  It must mean we are doing something right to be acknowledged by HBO, so thanks again Halo.Bungie.org for the news link. Halo Gaming news…

Bungie encourages you not to install Halo 3 to your hard drive. The NXE “allows games to be installed to your hard drive. Unfortunately Halo 3 will load slower in this scenario and could negatively impact your online experience.”

If you are worried about load times and things of that nature check out this article from Eurogamer I mention in my NXE early access WWU.  It shows the difference in load times if you install on the hard drive compared to not installing them it has a wide variety of games in this article.

Bungie also let us know that we can have Recon armor if we buy Halo 3: Recon, they said in last weeks Weekly Update

Everyone gets Recon armor for multiplayer!?

Yes, sort of. We did confirm that when Halo 3: Recon is released next fall, fans will finally have the means to acquire the Recon multiplayer armor for themselves. The “Vidmaster” achievements that were kicked off in the Halo 3 title update a few months ago are the first step on the road to unlocking Recon. Eventually, once you have successfully completed all of the Vidmaster achievements, you will be able to wear the armor. Some of these achievements can be earned when the Mythic Map Pack is released early next year, but you won’t be able to complete the full chain until the retail release of Halo 3: Recon next fall.

I am very happy to see that LEFT 4 DEAD got great reviews this week. 

Left 4 Dead Reception on Wikipedia

Left 4 Dead received almost unanimous praise from critics, averaging a 91% on Game Rankings and 88% Universal Acclaim on Metacritic, in particular for its procedurally generated movie-like experience. G4 said that the game captured the horror movie feel perfectly and that multiplayer was extremely addictive while giving it a 5 out of 5. IGN stated that "It's almost pitch perfect in how it captures the tension and the action of a Hollywood zombie movie" and went on to describe it as "quite possibly the perfect co-op shooter". IGN noted that the Source engine was no longer cutting edge, but was favorable towards the visuals, describing the lighting as "amazing" and praising the emotive facial animation and detailed, cluttered levels.

Also there are some images of NXE premium themes on the internet one of which is a Halo Wars one

I logged on to Xbox LIVE to see if they are available yet, and they are for a pricey 250 Microsoft points.

Finally there is an image floating around the internet of a possible new Gears of War 2 map.

Oh boy a new map to get destroyed on I can’t wait, oh well there is always the campaign or horde mode to play.

One Last thing before I go I found out today something very useless but kind of funny, you can make your 360 Avatar burp.

All you have to do is click the right analog stick to make it burp.

Here is a video I made, I am not the first to find this out but I did find this out by myself.
